I have a feeling it's due to either an intentional avoidance of supporting a native MacOS feature, which is stupid as users love this as it makes space management on a laptop a breeze, or because they literally don't understand how it is supposed to function.

It appears Adobe has had this issue for a few years (at least as far back as 2015) and hasn't been able to resolve it. Making the app non-full screen returns it to it's original desktop at the size it was at prior to moving to full screen mode.
#DO FULL SCREEN VIEW PHOTOSHOP MAC#
Proper full screen mode allows you to click the green window button on the top-left and it manages #3's tasks while directing your screen to the new desktop.įor an example of how this works, look at literally every other MacOS app, maybe Chrome as an example, and notice how there no Mac task bar, the task bar drops down when mousing the top of the screen, and the app is in it's own virtual desktop. Proper full screen mode does NOT require to access Mission Control, create a virtual desktop, drag the app on to the virtual desktop and then select a menu item to make it full screen on said desktop.Įven doing this w/PS still doesn't make it full screen, but at least it frees up the primary desktop. In PROPER full screen mode, the task bar IS accessible by mousing near the top of the screen, or through various swipe gestures.įull screen mode on MacOS creates another "virtual desktop" which can be swiped to, but is off-screen when on the primary desktop.įull screen mode in PS does not do this, it maximizes the app on the same desktop. There is no option in PS which results in this. I think there may be a fundamental misunderstanding by Adobe what users expect for full screen, so I'll try to describe it here properly:įull screen mode on MacOS should not show the task bar. Googling this only turns up older questions on the same issue, pointing to a plugin to fix this in High Sierra, which, from screen shots, doesn't actually fix the issue. There are three options in Photoshop for screen dimensions, yet none of them properly use the native full-screen mode. But just so we're clear, this is the latest version of MacOS. EDIT: Title should be: "How do you go true full-screen on MacOS Mojave?" - Reddit won't let me edit it, which is stupid, Reddit.
